Genetic Risk Factors for RLS Identified

The cause of RLS has so far been completely unknown. More than half of all RLS patients report about other family members who are also affected, so that a genetic component was assumed to be involved in the development of the disease at an early stage. Various groups of scientists have been looking for the genes which might play a role in RLS for years.

RLS May Double the Risk of Heart Disease

According to new research people who suffer from restless legs syndrome (RLS) are twice as likely to have a stroke or heart disease.

Iron Levels May Predict Restless Legs in Kids

Low iron levels may be associated with restless leg syndrome (RLS) in children who have a genetic predisposition for the condition, according to a recent study in the Annals of Neurology.
